ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sara Bharwani is a high school student from the Dutch Caribbean Island of St Martin. She has a richly diverse cultural heritage from her Sindhi diaspora background, with parents from Guyana and Malaysia, and grandparents from India, Singapore, and Indonesia. Sara is passionate about the environment, and in 2017 she started her Breathe Better Air Campaign in response to the toxic smoke from the landfill that affected her health. In recognition of her efforts, Sara received the prestigious Governor’s Youth Award. Sara is a tireless advocate for the environment.
