A ROYAL VISIT

Sara meets the Royal Family

On February 6th and 7th, 2023, St. Maarten received a Royal Visit from His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, Her Majesty Queen Maxima, and Her Royal Highness Princess Amalia of the Netherlands. The Cultural Department organized a Royal Walk on the Philipsburg Promenade of Great Bay. The purpose of the Cultural Manifestation was to introduce the Crown Princess to the Dutch Caribbean Island and to focus on young people performing for young people. The Royal Walk consisted of multiple performances on the Promenade and culminated in a Grand Performance on Captain Hodge Pier, facing the Great Bay with the backdrop of the Courthouse. The Royal Walk had multiple stops and over 1000 artists, and performers featured:

• African drum Group
• Marching band Drummers
• Stilt walkers
• Traditional Cultural Dancers
• Circus performers
• Visual art exhibition
• Youth entrepreneurs exhibition
• Youth orchestras
• Literary Exhibition

Sara was part of the literary exhibition of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. She had the opportunity to speak with the King, Queen, and Crown Princess and present them with her book.
